Dundee University computing student Suzanne Prior has maintained her stunning record of winning accolades for her work after she was named winner of the Best Student Project of the Year at the Computing Awards for Excellence.
Suzanne's winning project was Glu-zone: A Fun and Motivating Tool for Patients with diabetes.
The project made accessible and motivational software to allow patients with diabetes to self monitor and manage their blood glucose results.
This was very much a user-centred project, working with a range of people with diabetes throughout its design and development.
It follows her win in the Student Research Competition at the prestigious ACM SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2008), held this year in Florence. She was also named winner of the University s Wimberley Award this year, given to the student who has made an extraordinary contribution to University life.
This has been an amazing year for Suzanne and we are extremely proud of her, said Professor Peter Gregor, Dean of Computing at Dundee, who was supervisor of Suzanne s winning project in the Computing Awards.
Suzanne, (22), from Dundee, is currently studying for a PhD at Dundee.
Fellow Dundee student Yasmeen Ahmad, winner of the Young Software Engineer of the Year Awards in Edinburgh in October, was also shortlisted for this week s award, meaning Dundee had a quarter of the nominated students.
Suzanne and Yasmeen were joint top Honours students in the Applied Computing degree at Dundee in 2007. Yasmeen has also continued on to PhD study at Dundee.
