The Student Zone and Student Cribs have teamed up to create and amazing student virtual band project named "Be The Band" to raise money for the Nordoff-robins music charity and bring the international student community together.
The project www.betheband.co.uk has already got support from Napster.co.uk and soon HMV digital for the download sale of the resulting album and singles online for release next year. The proceeds from the online download sales will be donated to the Nordoff-robins music charity.
The project hopes to involve up to 5000 students from around the globe to create a virtual band similar to the likes of Gorillaz etc. The band will communicate through the forum on the Be The Band website. All decisions about the bands sound, look and appearance etc will be decided by the online community as a whole. The virtual band members will be animated virtual charactors. The project will run from the start of this academic year and run through until the release of the music in time for the silver clef fundraising event in June next year.
We are looking for students from any disciplines to get involved with the project if you have skill whether it is animation, music production, vocal, guitar or you would just like to get involved and help out please visit www.betheband.co.uk and become a band member.
